About Penny Connorton

As a former farmer I know only too well the amount of skills and varying hats that farmers need on a daily basis. I have been a Dairy Farmer, Cheese producer, Livestock breeder, Tourism Manager, and Agricultural Lecturer.

A former Director of Care Farming UK

A former Disability Officer with The Royal British Legion

A former Village Store Owner

A Counsellor specialising in the Farming Community (Advanced Diploma with The National Counselling Society)

A Counselling Supervisor (Diploma in Counselling Supervision – supporting Counselling students)

For many years I have been involved in combining my farming business with social farming and care farming, both on my previous farm through small social groups, and with many other farmers mostly in the south west. Matching highly skilled military veterans, and serving personnel with caring farmers sharing their knowledge with each other. The rewards and the benefits to both parties and remarkable, life enhancing and a positive experience.

I was fortunate enough to be featured on BBC Countryfile supporting a veteran who gained a tenanted farm. This showed to enthusiasm for social farming from the farming community with enthusiastic feedback after the programme.

In November 2019 I won an Outstanding Achievement Award with the South West Farmer newspaper, sponsored by Cornish Mutual Insurance.
